The guest house is situated on the south west coast of Madeira, which can arguably be described as the most beautiful part of the island. It is full of awe-inspiring scenery, dramatic coastlines, soaring mountain ranges, craggy valleys and beautiful flowers. This side of the island is far less populated than the east coast and has a pleasant climate. On levada walks enjoy fresh forest air, cool rock streams and pools together with an array of bird life. Nature walking trails and mountain-hikes are very close by. The energetic trail that starts immediately behind the property leads well into the Madeira Nature Reserve to the area of Fonte do Bispo. The small rural village of Lombada dos Cedros is a pleasant 10-minute drive from sandy Calheta Beach, and a 15-minute drive from Ponta do Pargo, which is the westernmost point of the island. The scenic drive to the quaint villages of Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar is breathtaking. The road twists and turns its way past vertical cliffs and deep valleys to the ocean 500 metres below, passing a number of tunnels and high waterfalls along the way. Nearby restaurants where you can experience local Madeiran cuisine are a 5-minute drive away.
